Affectionately known as the Children's Council, the Queen Anne's County Council for Children and Youth is a collaborative organization that identifies the met and unmet educational, health, and social needs of children and their families in Queen Anne's County.
Consisting of representatives from government agencies, faith-based organizations, non-profits, businesses, and community members, they advocate by partnering with each other as well as outside organizations and providing resources and support.
The Children's Council was founded in 1971 as the result of Article 49D of the Annotated Code of Maryland, Section 4, as amended. Although the Maryland General Assembly repealed Article 49D in 2005, the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners valued the work provided by the Council and decided to endorse and support its continued existence.
